Energy Data Engineer

In this role, within Service team, you will be part of a strong community of data experts, account managers, and technical specialists. You will be responsible for executing data analysis and energy management scope for various service customers. You will work with large data sets, cutting edge technology, and the ability to see your insights reshape the way the operation runs on a daily basis. You will be a communicator presenting insights to leadership and peers.

You will demonstrate analytical experience and an understanding of HVAC principles as well as our customers building operations. You will provide careful analytical support for the operation teams including performance measurement, outlier detection, causal impact, predictive modeling, and metric definition all leading to better data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate SkySpark with Customer BMS and other sources of data
  • Act as a thought leader in the creation of HVAC FDD rules and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Utilize excellent interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally with internal teams in order to identify opportunities, design, and assess improvements to our service
  • Make recommendations using effective presentation skills, conveying findings at multiple levels including executive leadership, managers, and peers through visual displays of quantitative information  •Support customer deliverables throughout the project execution
  • Manage larger strategic and cross-functional initiatives both on an on-going basis and on an ad-hoc basis
  • Conduct non-routine end-to-end analyses, including data gathering from large and complex data sets, processing, mapping, running analysis and getting insights
  • Maintaining Syserco Internal servers that host SkySpark
  • Maintain our existing suite of data solutions in Python, SQL and other languages
  • Adhere to Syserco's Policies and Procedures, HR, Safety Plan and others

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering), or equivalent practical experience
  • Working knowledge of HVAC control and design
  • Practical knowledge of fields of analytics or data science
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Perl etc.)
  • Experience manipulating data sets in SQL and/or using statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab, Numpy/Pandas)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering), or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in one or more BMS platforms
  • Building Construction and/or Mechanical systems knowledge
  • 2+ years of Industry Experience
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE guidelines
  • Experience in fault detection and diagnostics and one or more EMS platforms
  • Experience writing and maintaining extract, transform, and load scripts which operate on a variety of structured and unstructured sources
  • Knowledge of Advanced Statistics
