The Role:

The Solar and Battery Storage Project Development Engineer will be a key technical member of a cross-functional team that focuses on evaluating, defining & executing projects as part of the Syserco Energy Solutions team.

You will be responsible for initial opportunity assessment, utility analysis, site audits, project design, and assist with permitting, and project deployment.Additionally, you will continue to interface with vendors to remain aware of current and future marketplace technologies and subcontractor capabilities. Additionally, you will research financing vehicles available to help reduce barriers to completing a sale, including researching the creation of SES’ own offering to own/operate solar/storage assets.

You will define and develop metrics to track progress on long and short-term program goals and priorities. As a member of our team, you will help to shape the success of our projects from initial Customer interface to Permission to Operate. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, possess excellent communications skills, and be detail oriented. You must have a genuine passion for solar, battery storage, all things related to utility interconnection and must want to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct or manage site feasibility surveys, including such tasks as roof measurement, structural assessment,electrical equipment layout, utility analysis and system design.
  • Manage project scope and pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Develop financial analysis and optimize system performance.
  • Collaborate with development and energy engineers.
  • Effectively communicate with all project stakeholders including clients, program partners, financiers, Authorities having jurisdiction, contractors, and coworkers.
  • Facilitate a best-in-class stakeholder experience.
  • Respond to issues that arise in a professional and timely manner.
  • Track relevant project data and to drive best practices, lessons learned and efficiencies across multiple teams and projects.
  • Manage internal approvals and conduct Management Briefings weekly.
  • Assist in the evaluation of budget-to-actual financials on a project and program basis and implement strategies to improve safety, quality, profitability, and fun.
  • Performs other duties and general support as directed by supervisor.
  • The Solar and Battery Storage Project Development Engineer will report to the Operations Manager

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fundamental understanding of construction law and local codes
  • Strong analytical and financial management skills
  • Experience with Project Management tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects successfully.
  • Positive disposition and optimistic approach to work
  • Curiosity
  • Attention to detail,but ability to keep the “Big Picture” in mind

Qualifications:

  • Five years of solar PV and resilience experience in a fast-paced high-volume setting,
  • Strong organizational capacity, with the ability to address multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with construction plans and schematics
  • Working knowledge of the structure of buildings
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems
  • Critical thinker and problem solver
  • Strong attention to detail with a desire for continuous improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office software, including MS Project
  • Knowledgeable in Helioscope, UtilityAPI,Energy Toolbase, PVSyst
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Engineering degree preferred
